GILDED EDGES part four

GILDED EDGES part four

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:17

Charles F. Stanley has a daily audio series on his web site which I listen to. One message of Dr. Stanley’s mentioned Bibles in our homes. He went on to ask how far into your home would someone need to walk before they encountered a Bible. Then he went on to ask if that same Bible would be covered in dust or not. Sobering thoughts to say the least. What about a Bible that’s being carried about without even being opened? Puzzling.

Some people call their Bible a “sword” since it’s called a sword in Ephesians 6 and again in Hebrews 4. Ask yourself what good is a sword if it remains in the scabbard all the time? How’s your “sword” looking these days? Rusty and dusty or worn and torn? You can’t get the gold until you get into the mine. You can’t study the Word until you open your Bible!

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
